Pottery!

Yesterday was the last pottery class for the spring session for Mom and I, and I thought I'd post some photos of the things I've made so far.

Toothbrush and Toothpaste holder
I made this because I can never find toothbrush holders that have a large enough opening for the large toothpaste tubes you get at Costco! So I made one myself! The holder has 8 holes around it - way more than we'll ever use, but I think it looks, and works great! It could be used as a pen holder if I ever get sick of it in the bathroom!

Bowls:
 Love the White Cascade.

For this one, I was playing around with glazes - I overlapped four different transparent glazes, the actual colors are the four corners.

This one I got a neat effect by layering two different glazes...

Coasters:
Love this - The cherry blossoms were stamped into the clay using a retired Stampin' Up! set called Easter Blossoms! It looks beautiful with the soft minty-green background!

I will be picking up the rest of our glazed items this coming Sunday, so I will post more then!

Thanks for looking,
Ashley

Retirement Card - for a dog lover

A friend at work asked me to make a custom card for a coworker who was retiring, and LOVED shitzus. So, I figured I would try to make a punch art shitzu dog for the card! She also loves green, blue and pink, so this is the card I came up with! It is an easel card, which means she can put it on a shelf open and it sits like you see in the photo below. I like doing custom cards as easel cards, as they become a nice keepsake for the receiver.

I thought I'd try the new Labels Collection framelits by SU!, and I am loving them! They are an excellent way to add a beautiful frame to a card easily! The collection comes with 6 wafer-thin dies that cut up to a 5-7/16" wide label - which would be great as a unique card shape!

Here is a close-up of the front of the card with the punch art shitzu, flowers, ribbon and lower easel section:
 And the inside:

If you love the Vintage Vogue stamp set, get it now while you can! It is retiring at the end of May, so you still have a few days to contact me to order it!

Cardstock: Marina Mist, Wild Wasabi, Calypso Coral, Whisper White
Ink: Crumb Cake, Calypso Coral, Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight
Stamps:Vintage Vogue, Well Scripted (R), Congrats (R)
Punches: Modern Label, Small Oval, Full Heart, Extra-Large Oval, 1 3/4" Circle, Owl (for the heart shape - nose and bow)
Other: Labels collection framelits dies, metal brads, sponge daubers, Crumb Cake Seam Binding Ribbon, Elegant Lines Textured Embossing Folder, Big Shot

Thank you for dropping by!

Happy Valentines!

Boy, has it been a while since I last posted something! Life's been busy. Went on two trips last year - one to Victoria for work, but took my mom with me and made it into a bit of a vacation visiting her aunt. The other was off to Las Vegas with Phil and another couple - was AMAZING!! We went to the West rim of the Grand Canyon, it was so awesome - It is so vast - just incredible! We also went to see the Hoover Dam, which was very cool! Vegas itself is a very interesting place, but since I'm not much of a gambler, we just walked around and tried to take in as much as we could!

So, other things that have happened - I was in two craft shows - one this fall, and one before Christmas. The first one wasn't great, but the second was really good, at Miles McDonnell Collegiate. I will be there again next year!

I also started a card "buffet" class, where you come and make 10 cards - but you get to pick which ones out of the "menu" you want to make! I held 3 sessions in November, and had a really good turnout! I am probably going to hold another in March - I've just been too busy with other things to get around to planning it!!

So, I am finally posting some cards I made for Valentines Day this year.

Three 3x3 cards made using the retired Pun Fun stamp set colored in with markers and a blender pen. I used the red glitter paper for the hearts and some great retired Melon Mambo Pom Pom trim and Polka Dot Real Red Grosgrain ribbon. Card bases are in Melon Mambo and Old Olive.

The Owl sucker covers are made using a non-SU paper, the Owl punch, red glitter paper cut out with the Small Heart Punch, and the I {Heart} Hearts stamp set.

This is the card I made Phil this Valentines! Made using the I {Heart} Hearts stamp set for the background on Real Red, and the Candy Conversations stamp available in the Occasions Mini, punched using the Small Heart Punch, layered on top of the 1" Square Punch of Basic Grey, on top of the Postage Stamp punched out Basic Black. The strip is Crumb Cake.

This card I gave to my mom this year. Again I used the retired Pun Fun stamp set colored in with markers and a blender pen, which I cut out and layered on top of a Real Red circle cut out using the 2 1/2" Circle Punch.

Card base is Crumb Cake, with Real Red embossed using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder,  Scallop Trim border punch, layered with Old Olive, some Old Olive satin ribbon, another piece of Crumb Cake stamped with the Fine Flourish stamp in Crumb Cake. Also used the "Love" from the Pennant Parade stamp set, and the Jewelry Tag Punch tied off with some embroidery thread.

This card uses Real Red and Pretty in Pink cardstock. I heat embossed the hearts from the Confetti stamp set on the pink cardstock using white craft ink and white embossing powder.

The white circle uses the 2 1/2" Circle Punch, the red layer underneath was cut out using the Circle Scissors Plus, and layered on top of the 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch. Hearts were punched out using the Heart to Heart, Small Heart and Owl punches. I adhered the hearts inside the white circle, and then ran them all together through the Big Shot in the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.

The {LOVE} stamp from the retired Valentine Defined set was used in the left corner, and heat embossed with white powder. Bottom corners were punched with the Pinking Hearts corner punch. Black 1/2" Scallop Dots ribbon separates red and pink layers.

Another card made using the retired Pun Fun stamp set - can you tell I like this little lamb stamp? lol!
Again I cut it out and layered on top of a Real Red circle cut out using the 2 1/2" Circle Punch which is then  layered on top of a Whisper White 2 3/8" Scallop Circle punch. I also used a 4 petal flower punch out of Daffodil Delight from the Punch Pack, and a matching clear button from Bitty Buttons.

Card base is Basic Grey, with a scrap Real Red piece I had used with the Top Note Die; a piece of Crumb Cake stamped with the Dot, Dot, Dot stamp.

The beautiful roses Phil gave me, his card and my card. Also shows a Valentines frame I made using a dollar store frame, the I {Heart} Hearts and retired Valentines Defined stamp sets; Real Red cardstock, satin ribbon and red glitter paper. Also used the Elegant Lines embossing folder on the base cardstock, and highlighted the detail using the Smooch illuminate top coat accent ink and pearls.
