Another sympathy card...

This is another sympathy card I made for a coworker who lost his father to cancer.

It's been a while!!!

Well, it's been a while since I last posted something - it was a very busy summer and fall!! I went to San Francisco for a conference with work - it was beautiful! I got a Master Angler for catching a 35.5" long catfish, I got a promotion at work, and I am in my first craft show this Sunday with my friend Joanne, one of my downline!!! So there is and was lots going on, but I will try to be better at posting my cards and craft items - especially the stuff I am selling at the craft fair - I am pretty happy with the items!

This card is one of a few that I made for family members when my great-aunt died of cancer in October. I was very glad that I got to visit her twice the weekend before she passed. She did not suffer, and went quickly and peacefully. RIP Auntie Julie, xoxoxo.

Twins Fox and Friends 1st Birthday

A friend of my mom had twins last year (see the baby card I made then) and mom asked me to make one for their first birthday. This is the card I came up with. Fox and Friends (at left) is a great stamp set for babies and kids!

2 Birthdays!

Well, it's been a while since I last posted something to the blog, summer's been keeping me busy! Not a lot of time to stamp, but I get it in there when I can!!

I had to make two birthday cards a couple weeks ago for Phil's sister and neice, shown below.

The card for his sister is the same basic layout as my last post - the masculine dog lover birthday... by just changing the colors and the stamped image, you have a completely different card!

Masculine dog lover birthday card

A friend of mine from work just celebrated his birthday, and I needed to make a card for him - so I knew he is a dog lover, and broke out my D is for Dog stamp set, finally!! I also used the Itty Bitty Backgrounds (which is retiring as of July 1 - get it now while you can!! ).

I like this layout because it is simple and masculine.

Birthday card

I usually bring cards I make to work with me and show them to coworkers before giving them away, and one of the women I usually share my cards with asked me to make a card for a dear friend of hers that is celebrating her 65th birthday. She wanted something special, so this is what I came up with. I knew the Elements of Style stamp set (pictured right) would be perfect. 

The card turned out great and my coworker was extremely happy with it! After taking the pictures, I decided to add the hummingbird stamp, so it is not shown in all the images below.

A friend at work just had a baby this month, and this was the gift I made for him - a frame for the baby's picture.

Today I needed some inspiration, so I looked to my House & Home magazine and found this picture with the circles, so I used the Sahara Sand DSP as a background, and paired it with the Circle Circus stamp set in a duotone pallet.

Father's Day Card

Happy long weekend, everyone!!

I decided I needed some inspiration and went to the Mojo Monday blog and did their sketch challenge for this week.

This is what I came up with - a Father's Day card!! I like the angled central piece! It gives a great focal point to the card. The All Holidays "Happy Father's Day" stamp is repeated on Whisper White cs at an angle, and was done using the Stamp-a-ma-jig.

Cat Post-it-note Holder

This is a great post-it-note holder I made myself for work... I've also made a few others as gifts for my Hostesses, but I didn't take pictures of them, so here's this one! I really enjoy making things that will be used often, and not just a card that someone will look at for a week or two and then put away.

Mother’s Day Gifts Class!

With Mother’s Day coming up on May 9^th, you are probably wondering what to get for Mom. Hint: Moms just LOVE gifts that are handmade by you with love. So if you’re looking for something great to make your mom that will let her know how much she is appreciated, come out and join us in a great afternoon where you will make everything you need to make this Mother’s day great for her! 

The cost of the class is $20 and you will leave with a card (with envelope), a shadow box “MOM” frame, a “MOM” post-it-note fridge magnet and a great bookmark – and all will remind her of you – because you made everything yourself!

We will be using all Stampin’ Up! products; the Big Shot and dies, punches, Stampin’ Pastels and Markers, Ribbons and pearls. You will also get to test out the brand new “Smooch Spritz” (coming out in the Summer Mini on May 1st) which adds a pearlized glitter to the projects!

What to bring with you:

1. Adhesive  - if you have both glue and a 2-sided tape runner, please bring both. Otherwise, bring what you have
2. Scissors

Everything else will be provided for you including all papers, inks, embellishments, accessories, magnet and frame. All of the papers will be pre-cut for you and all you have to do is stamp, punch, embellish and assemble the layouts. You will also have the opportunity to try out the Big Shot if you have never used it before.

Each layout will have several layers of paper and embellishments.

The class will be held on:  
Friday April 30^th at 7:00 pm  *
AND  
Saturday May 1st at 1:00 pm *

The class will be about 3 hours long.

* Both classes will be making the same project – I am offering two days in order to accommodate those who cannot make it to one.

To attend this class you need to register by calling me at 204-294-4892 or by emailing me at ashleysokal@gmail.com by Wednesday April 28^th to get directions and to pre-pay for the class. Please advise which date you wish to attend.

**** The fee includes the four projects, a drink and a snack at the event (please advise if you have any allergies). I am estimating that this will take about 3 hours to complete.

Last week we said goodbye to a coworker whose contract had ended, and I offered to make a thank-you card from all of us to show our appreciation for his hard work for the last 9 months.

Thinking of You card

This card is for Phil's uncle who has been diagnosed with lung cancer.

The card is a pocket card. The "pocket" has the gold medallion on it, and the card with the sentiment goes inside it.

There's a great tutorial here: http://www.stampingatcatscorner.com/stamping_at_cats_corner_t/pocket-card-tutorial.html by Tami D'Amico. That card is for a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  I just re-worked it to make a 6 x 6.

This is a really nice style to do for an anniversary, wedding, sympathy - anything you need an elegant look for a card.
